- We want to connect a server over a leased line to the internet and the
- distance between our and the provider's server is about 9km. We need a
- speed of about 128kbs.
-
- We think about using baseband modems, but we're not sure how long the
- lines will remain usable (baseband modems only work over standard
- unamplified copper) for baseband.
-
- Digital lines are safe, but expensive in Holland.
-
- Is there any system to combine V32bis or V34 modems into one signal?
- I.e. here's an idea how I thought it might be possible....a connection
- from one network to another. I call the box that converts one RS232
- signal into 4 and 4 into one again a multiplexer (don't know if it's the
- right word though..)
-
- 4 voice lines are cheaper than 1 digital line, 4 modems don't cost too
- much nowadays (compared to baseband modems) and will keep working over
- voice lines no matter the distance, while baseband is limited in
- distance! The question is, do these multiplexers exist and how much do
- they cost?

- Thanks in advance for your thoughts
